In a significant step to support Pakistan’s growing digital economy, the State Bank of Pakistan has introduced reforms that make dollar receiving much easier for freelancers and IT exporters.
Earlier, freelancers often struggled with complex procedures and delays. However, the central bank has now removed the requirement of Form ‘R’ for every transaction. This move simplifies the overall dollar payments process and saves valuable time.
Now, freelancers only need to submit a one-time declaration when opening their account. After that, banks will handle transactions automatically. As a result, dollar receiving becomes more seamless and user-friendly.
In addition, the State Bank has directed all banks to process foreign currency transactions within 24 hours. This clear deadline ensures freelancers receive payment quickly without unnecessary delays.
The central bank has also increased the threshold for Form ‘R’ submission to $25,000. As a result of this change, small and medium freelancers will face fewer compliance requirements. Consequently, dollar payments will feel less burdensome for many professionals.
Moreover, banks must now set up dedicated systems to resolve complaints from IT exporters and freelancers. This step will improve service quality and build greater confidence in the dollar-receiving system.
At the same time, the State Bank is encouraging digital transformation. It supports the digitization of key documents like Form ‘R’, IRV, and Form ‘M’. Automated systems will reduce errors and further streamline dollar receiving across the banking network.
These reforms aim to boost IT exports and empower freelancers. Many young professionals depend on timely dollar receiving for their income. Therefore, these changes will directly improve their financial stability.
Meanwhile, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja welcomed the initiative. She emphasized that these measures will strengthen the freelancing sector and support export growth.
Overall, the new policy creates a smoother and faster system. It removes unnecessary barriers and makes dollar receiving more efficient for freelancers across Pakistan.
