Officials plan to allocate around Rs. 61.65 billion under these governance budget proposals for 2026–27. This amount reflects a revised financial strategy for key government departments.
At the same time, authorities have suggested increasing funding for law enforcement. The police department is expected to receive nearly Rs. 24.30 billion under the new budget proposals.
Moreover, the government has outlined allocations for other major institutions. The Board of Revenue may receive Rs. 14.80 billion. The judiciary is likely to get Rs. 8.10 billion. In addition, the Home Department could receive Rs. 4.50 billion. Similarly, Rs. 4.80 billion has been proposed for Law and Parliamentary Affairs within the governance budget proposals.
Furthermore, the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) may receive Rs. 3.20 billion. The Punjab Assembly is expected to have a budget of Rs. 1.60 billion. Meanwhile, public prosecution may receive around Rs. 150 million under these governance budget proposals.
However, officials have clarified that these budget proposals are not final yet. They are still awaiting approval from relevant authorities. Therefore, changes remain possible before finalization. In fact, the government may increase allocations further to strengthen governance systems.
On the other hand, documents show a noticeable difference compared to the current fiscal year. The revised governance budget for the ongoing year stands at Rs. 80.98 billion. In comparison, the new budget proposals suggest a lower allocation.
Overall, the government aims to balance spending while improving institutional performance. These governance budget proposals aim to streamline resources and enhance administrative efficiency across Punjab.
