Karachi on High Alert After Rising Border Tensions

Karachi has been placed on high alert following rising tensions near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, police officials said on Friday. Karachi Police Chief Azaad Khan issued a public safety advisory, urging residents to remain vigilant and stay informed about official updates.

According to Sindh Police, authorities have strengthened security arrangements across Karachi.

Law enforcement agencies have increased monitoring at key entry and exit points, transport hubs, and sensitive locations throughout the city. Officials said these steps aim to prevent any potential security threats and ensure public safety.

Police have advised citizens to report any suspicious activity, unusual movement, or unattended items immediately by calling the Madadgar 15 helpline. They also urged the public to cooperate fully with officers during checkposts and search operations. In addition, residents were warned not to spread unverified information on social media.

Authorities noted that false reports about certain shopping centers recently circulated online, causing unnecessary panic. They emphasized that people should rely only on official statements issued by Sindh Police and the local administration.

Security checks have also intensified at the airport and other important locations. Police have asked travelers to leave their homes at least one hour earlier than usual due to stricter screening procedures.

To reduce crowding, only one person will be allowed to accompany a passenger to designated drop-off or pick-up points. Citizens have further been advised to carry their national identity cards at all times, as verification may be required at various checkpoints.

Officials said national security and law enforcement agencies remain fully prepared to respond to any situation. They added that all measures are being taken to maintain peace, stability, and the safety of residents, while urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities.
