Punjab free heart surgeries have now crossed the 10,000 milestone under the Chief Minister’s Children’s Heart Surgery Programme. As a result, thousands of families have received life-saving treatment without financial burden.
Earlier this week, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique announced the achievement during a high-level review meeting in Lahore. He described the milestone as a turning point in pediatric cardiac care in the province.
Over the past few years, the government has allocated billions of rupees to fund these procedures. Consequently, children born with congenital heart diseases now receive surgery free of cost in empaneled hospitals.
During the meeting, officials presented detailed performance reports. In addition, they reviewed monitoring systems, hospital standards, and future expansion targets.
The minister directed hospitals to reduce waiting times. Furthermore, he instructed departments to improve coordination and provide clear guidance to parents at every stage of treatment.
Punjab free heart surgeries continue to expand under the supervision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Meanwhile, authorities are strengthening transparency and oversight mechanisms to maintain service quality.
Going forward, the health department plans to increase surgical capacity across the province. Ultimately, the government aims to ensure that no child remains untreated due to financial hardship.
Therefore, crossing the 10,000 mark represents more than a statistical milestone. Instead, it reflects sustained policy focus, structured monitoring, and long-term investment in public healthcare reform.
