Maryam Nawaz Praises Lahoris for Following Basant SOPs

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has praised the people of Lahore for celebrating Basant responsibly, calling their behavior a model of discipline and civic sense. She shared her views in a message posted on X, highlighting public cooperation.

The Chief Minister stated that the continuation of Basant celebrations is a reward for Lahoris who strictly followed safety guidelines. According to her, the festival proved that traditions can be enjoyed without compromising public safety.

Maryam Nawaz urged citizens to maintain the same level of responsibility during the remaining festivities. She advised people to stay away from electricity wires, ensure rooftop safety, and comply with all official instructions.

She emphasized that Basant should be celebrated in a way that keeps families, neighborhoods, and the city secure. Her message focused on collective responsibility to make the historic event memorable for positive reasons.

Earlier, the Chief Minister commended Lahore’s residents for honoring the government’s trust. She expressed happiness over the city’s vibrant yet controlled atmosphere, saying both she and Lahore were equally delighted.

Maryam Nawaz noted that the idea of a “safe yet joyful Basant” was successfully implemented. Authorities received no reports of banned kite strings, as only approved materials and sizes were used throughout the city.

She added that rooftop celebrations followed defined SOPs, which significantly reduced risks. The absence of metallic strings also helped protect power infrastructure, keeping transformers and supply lines intact.

According to the Chief Minister, the success of Safe Basant in Lahore will serve as a blueprint for other cities. The government plans to replicate this model to revive cultural festivities safely across Punjab.

To ensure public health preparedness, 200 Clinics on Wheels and 21 field hospitals were deployed in various localities. Emergency teams remained on alert to respond swiftly to any situation.

Maryam Nawaz reminded citizens that the final day of Basant celebrations requires extra caution. She appealed to the public to remain vigilant, follow safety measures, and help conclude the festival peacefully.
