YouTube Cracks Down on AI-Generated Channels, Deletes 16 Popular Accounts
YouTube has taken strict action against AI-generated channels this year, removing 16 top accounts that were producing low-quality, automated content.
The platform is focusing on improving content quality and tackling spammy AI-driven channels. YouTube’s recent crackdown targets channels relying on repetitive videos, automated voices, and recycled content.
According to a report by Kapwing, these 16 channels had amassed over 4.7 billion views and more than 35 million subscribers collectively. Many of them were earning an estimated $10 million per year.
Kapwing initially identified these accounts in November 2025, highlighting 100 highly-subscribed low-quality AI-operated channels. Following this, YouTube either terminated these channels or removed all their videos. Some accounts remain visible but show no content, suggesting the action was focused on content quality rather than solely revenue.
The deleted channels included animated imitation videos, continuous religious story series, and viral-style clips. These were flagged for being spam-like, repetitive, and low-effort in nature.
Earlier this month, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan confirmed the platform’s commitment to cracking down on AI-generated content that misleads viewers or adds little value. He emphasized that the company will continue removing low-quality AI videos to protect the platform’s integrity.
This move marks a significant step in controlling the growing trend of automated AI channels that flood YouTube with spam and repetitive content. It also signals that creators relying heavily on AI-generated material must ensure originality and quality to avoid penalties.
