Islamabad (April 11, 2026): Islamabad has enforced a strict traffic management plan as authorities prepare for high-level international engagements. As part of this move, officials have implemented an Islamabad Red Zone Lockdown to ensure smooth security operations across the capital.
The traffic police have issued a detailed diversion plan for April 11 and 12. During this period, heavy traffic will not be allowed to enter the city. This step aims to reduce congestion and maintain order during sensitive movements.
Meanwhile, travelers coming from Peshawar toward Rawalpindi via GT Road should use the Taxila Motorway. In the same way, vehicles traveling from Lahore to Peshawar should take alternative routes via Rawat, Chak Beli, Chakri, and the Taxila Motorway. These diversions will help keep the main corridors clear despite of Islamabad red zone lockdown.
For residents inside Islamabad, authorities have also provided clear instructions. People living in G-5, F-6, and F-7 sectors should use Margalla Road for daily travel. On the other hand, residents of G-6 and G-7 should rely on Ninth Avenue. Similarly, traffic moving from Faisal Avenue toward Zero Point will shift to Ninth Avenue to avoid restricted zones.
At the same time, travelers coming from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi should take Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lehtrar Road, and GT Road. In contrast, those entering Islamabad from Rawalpindi should use the Saddar-to-Ninth Avenue route. This approach will help maintain a steady traffic flow despite the Islamabad Red Zone Lockdown.
Additionally, vehicles moving from Colonel Sher Khan Road toward Faisal Avenue should take Stadium Road via the Ninth Avenue signal. This adjustment will further ease pressure on central routes.
For long-distance travel, authorities have suggested multiple options. Vehicles heading from Peshawar to Lahore should use the Taxila Motorway or connect through the Fateh Jang Motorway via Tarnol Phatak. Likewise, heavy traffic from Lahore on GT Road will divert onto the Chakri Motorway via Chak Beli Road.
Overall, officials urge citizens to strictly follow the advisory. By choosing these alternate routes, travelers can avoid delays and inconvenience. The Islamabad Red Zone Lockdown remains a key part of this plan, and public cooperation will ensure smoother movement across the city.
