Pakistan has issued fresh guidance for pilgrims planning religious travel to Iraq, urging them to follow the latest Iraq Travel Rules without exception.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony shared the instructions with pilgrims and organizers of Ziyarat groups. It stressed that every traveler must understand the conditions before applying for an Iraqi pilgrimage visa.
Iraqi authorities have introduced these measures to stop visa misuse and prevent illegal stays. Therefore, Pakistani pilgrims must arrange their documents carefully and follow the approved travel process.
The updated Iraq Travel Rules place restrictions on several categories of travelers. Iraq will not allow people who travel alone on a family visa to enter the country.
Moreover, Iraqi authorities will not permit solo male pilgrims under 50 to enter the country. This condition aims to ensure that religious travel is organized and documented.
The ministry has also warned travelers about visa rejections and entry refusals. In such cases, applicants will not receive a refund of their visa fee.
Furthermore, pilgrims cannot use one visa for both Ashura and Arbaeen visits. They must obtain separate visas if they plan to travel during both religious occasions.
The Iraq Travel Rules also limit the validity of a pilgrimage visa to 30 days. Pilgrims must leave Iraq before their permitted stay ends.
Anyone who remains in Iraq after the visa expiry date may face serious consequences. Iraqi authorities can impose fines, deport the traveler, and place a lifetime entry ban.
In addition, Iraqi immigration officers will retain Pakistani pilgrims’ passports upon their arrival in Iraq. Officials will return the passports through the required immigration process.
The ministry has asked Ziyarat group organizers to guide every traveler before departure. They must also ensure that pilgrims understand the visa terms and carry complete travel documents.
These Iraq Travel Rules require pilgrims to plan their journey responsibly. They should confirm their visa category, travel dates, group arrangements, and return plans before leaving Pakistan.
Pilgrims should avoid relying on unofficial agents or incomplete information. Instead, they should contact authorized organizers and follow ministry instructions throughout the journey.
The government has advised all visitors to respect Iraqi laws and immigration requirements. Careful compliance with the Iraq Travel Rules can protect pilgrims from financial losses, entry refusal, and legal action during their visit.
