Apple Launches Apple TV 4K With A19 Chip, Siri AI at $300
Apple has introduced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, its first update to the streaming box in four years, packing the A19 chip, a new Siri AI experience, hands-free voice control and support for four-speaker surround sound. The catch: the price has doubled to $300.
Pre-orders are already open, and the device goes on general sale on November 13. It ships in a single 128GB configuration with Gigabit Ethernet as standard.
Apple TV 4K A19 brings a major performance jump
The new Apple TV 4K runs on Apple’s A19 chipset, the same silicon inside the iPhone 17. Compared with the A15 chip in the 2022 model, Apple says CPU performance is 50 per cent faster while graphics performance is twice as fast. The chip also includes a dedicated AV1 decoder, giving the box native hardware support for the increasingly common video codec.
Apple has dropped the old 64GB option entirely. The previous generation launched at $130 for 64GB and $150 for the 128GB model with Ethernet, so the new $300 tag is a steep climb. It is the biggest price hike the Apple TV line has seen.
Siri AI moves to the living room
The headline software change is Siri AI, a new version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. It offers a full-screen conversational experience: viewers can ask which shows won at the Emmy Awards, follow up about a programme while watching, or get recommendations based on personal context shared from an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone.
Three far-field microphones built into the box allow hands-free “Hey Siri” requests from across the room, with echo cancellation that isolates the user’s voice even while audio is playing. The familiar Siri Remote keeps its design but gains Find My support with Precision Finding, plus a built-in speaker that can play a sound to help locate it when it slips between the sofa cushions.
When compatible security cameras detect activity, Apple Intelligence can process the footage and generate summarised notifications. The box also works as a smart home hub with Wi-Fi and Thread support: a compatible doorbell camera can show a live feed on the TV when someone rings, and users can speak to visitors or unlock a smart lock from the couch.
Four HomePods for surround sound
Apple has expanded speaker pairing in a big way. Users can now connect up to four HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers to build a surround sound system, with front and rear pairs that must each use matching models. Two pairs of AirPods can also connect for private listening, and Dolby Atmos is supported.
Video output remains 4K at 60fps with Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG, and the new model adds support for 21:9 displays and projectors. Apple Arcade gaming, Apple Fitness+ workouts and Continuity Camera video calls round out the entertainment side.
What it means for buyers in Pakistan
The $300 price puts the new Apple TV 4K firmly in premium territory, and Pakistani buyers should expect to pay a premium over that once it reaches local shelves through authorised resellers and the grey market. The 2022 model remains the value pick for anyone who simply wants 4K streaming.
The smarter play may be the software: Siri AI is also coming to older Apple TV 4K models through a tvOS update, so existing owners get the headline feature without buying new hardware. For new buyers, the A19’s headroom matters most for gaming on Apple Arcade and the box’s new smart-home hub duties.
Apple announced the box alongside the HomePod mini 2 with its own Siri AI features, signalling a coordinated push to own the living room. With Apple Music now officially in Pakistan and the iPhone 17 family on sale, the company’s ecosystem play in the country keeps widening, even as WhatsApp’s iPhone app gets its own redesign.
