The competition
What Is the One Day Cup Pakistan?
Pakistan’s domestic one-day scene has a new flagship — here is how it fits together.
In August 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board introduced three new “Champions” competitions for the 2024–25 domestic season — the Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup and Champions First-Class Cup — designed as a tougher, high-pressure environment bridging domestic and international cricket. The One-Day Cup is the 50-over List A tournament of that set, and it is what most searches for “One Day Cup Pakistan” are after.
It sits alongside two older domestic one-day tournaments. The Pakistan Cup — played as the Pentangular One Day Cup in 2008–09, renamed the Pakistan Cup in 2016 — is the traditional regional List A competition (eight teams; TV coverage on PTV Sports, Geo Super and A Sports). The President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) is the departmental 50-over tournament: in its 2025–26 edition, Khan Research Laboratories beat Pakistan Television by 4 wickets in the final at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, on 25 December 2025, taking home PKR 5 million.
The Champions One-Day Cup is the one built for television and for the national selectors’ gaze: five star-studded sides, all matches at one venue in the first edition, and Pakistan’s biggest white-ball names — Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan — leading the teams.

How to Follow Live Scores
An honest note first: this page does not invent ball-by-ball scores. Here is where the real ones live.
Dozens of websites show “live scores” with no data source behind them. For the One Day Cup Pakistan, genuine live coverage comes from a short list of official outlets. Bookmark these instead:
- PCB official website (pcb.com.pk) — the board publishes official scorecards, match reports and points tables for every domestic tournament, including the Champions One-Day Cup and President’s Cup.
- ESPNcricinfo — ball-by-ball commentary and scorecards for Pakistan’s domestic List A matches, the same feed broadcasters use.
- TV broadcasters — the Champions One-Day Cup airs on PTV Sports, A Sports, Geo Super and Ten Sports in Pakistan (Willow TV in North America).
- Streaming apps — Tamasha, Tapmad and Myco carry official live streams of PCB domestic cricket.
If a match is not being played, no legitimate site will show a live score — any page claiming otherwise is guessing. During the season (the first Champions edition ran 12–29 September 2024 at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad), the outlets above carry every ball.
Five sides, one trophy
The Teams and Their Stars
Each side is built around Pakistan internationals — the tournament’s whole point is pressure cricket for the national pipeline.
Panthers
Captain: Shadab Khan. Champions of the first edition (2024–25), beating Markhors by 5 wickets in the final. Player of the tournament: Mohammad Hasnain.
Markhors
Captain: Mohammad Rizwan. Topped the 2024–25 league stage with 3 wins from 4 and the best net run rate (+1.715) before losing the final.
Stallions
Captain: Babar Azam (Mohammad Haris). The batting powerhouse — Pakistan’s premier white-ball batter leading a young squad.
Lions
Captain: Shaheen Afridi. Built around Pakistan’s spearhead fast bowler; the side to watch whenever he has the new ball.
Dolphins
Captain: Saud Shakeel. The 2024–25 underdogs — one win from four — but a development side full of emerging talent.
Why it matters
The PCB created the Champions events to give fringe internationals high-pressure 50-over cricket — performances here feed directly into ODI selection.
How it works
Format, Points and Playoffs
Round-robin, then playoffs — with a bonus-point system that rewards dominant wins.
The five teams play each other in a round-robin league stage. The top four go through to the playoffs: Qualifier (1st vs 2nd), Eliminator 1, Eliminator 2 and the final — the same structure as the first edition at Faisalabad in September 2024.
The points system rewards big wins: an outright win is worth 10 points, with bonus points for winning by 8–10 wickets or 50–100+ runs, for team totals of 350–374 and 375+, for taking 8 or all 10 wickets, and for powerplay dominance (3 wickets, or 100+ runs). It is designed so that net run rate rarely has to separate teams — emphatic victories are banked as points.
