Pakistan in the World Test Championship 2025–27: Standings & Schedule
From bottom of the table to a full rebuild — Pakistan’s World Test Championship journey. This guide tracks Pakistan in the 2025–27 WTC cycle: results so far, what’s next, and how the points system works.
Quick answer: Pakistan finished last in the 2023–25 World Test Championship and have started the 2025–27 cycle with defeats in the West Indies and a 3–0 whitewash in England. The rebuild — young squad, Babar Azam’s captaincy, Hesson’s oversight — is aimed at climbing the table before the 2027 final.
How the WTC Works
Nine teams play Test series over two years; the table is ranked by points percentage (PCT). 12 points for a win, 6 for a tie, 4 for a draw — with over-rate deductions. The top two contest the final (2027).
The 2023–25 Disaster
- Finished last in the nine-team table.
- Suffered a historic 2–0 home whitewash by Bangladesh.
- Shan Masood lost 12 of 16 Tests as captain — the costliest tenure in the cycle.
2025–27 So Far
- West Indies (away, Jul 2026): two-Test series — Babar’s first as returning captain.
- England (away, Aug–Sep 2026): 3–0 whitewash; seven players and two coaches axed.
- Next: home series are the rebuild’s launchpad — the young squad (Saim Ayub, Azan Awais, Saad Baig, the Imrans) is being groomed for them.
