Red Magic 12 Pro+ launched with 185Hz display, 8,400mAh battery

Red Magic has officially launched the Red Magic 12 Pro+ in China, its new gaming flagship. The phone pairs a high-refresh-rate display with advanced cooling, a large battery and a set of gaming-focused extras, including dedicated shoulder triggers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Red Magic 12 Pro+ display and design

The phone carries a 6.85-inch BOE X11 OLED display with a resolution of 2,688 x 1,216 pixels and a 185Hz refresh rate. Ultra-narrow 0.96mm bezels and the absence of a punch-hole camera give the front a clean, full-screen look.

The panel supports a 500Hz touch sampling rate, rising to 5,000Hz instantaneous sampling, along with 10-bit colour, 1,900 nits of global brightness and up to 5,000 nits of local peak brightness. For eye comfort, it offers 2,592Hz PWM dimming at low brightness and DC-like dimming at higher levels.

It comes in three finishes: Dark Night Transparent, Silver Wing Transparent and Ice Blue Transparent.

Performance, cooling and gaming features

The Red Magic 12 Pro+ runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, built on a 2nm process, paired with Red Magic’s own RedCore R5 gaming chip and G1 display control chip. Memory goes up to LPDDR5T running at 10,667Mbps, with UFS 4.1 Pro storage.

For supported games, the phone can run super-resolution and frame interpolation at the same time, at up to 2K resolution and 185Hz. Cooling is handled by the company’s ICE system, which combines liquid cooling, an active fan and extra thermal materials. The built-in fan spins at up to 25,500rpm and carries an IPX8 water-resistance rating, while the phone itself is rated IP68 and IP69.

Gaming extras include 700Hz shoulder triggers, dual 1115E linear speakers, three microphones, an X-axis linear motor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, an IR blaster and USB 3.2 Gen 2. The phone runs RedMagic OS 12 based on Android 17 and has an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.

Cameras and battery

The rear setup pairs a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation and a 50MP ultrawide. Selfies come from a 16MP OmniVision camera placed under the display.

The 8,400mAh battery supports 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. Bypass charging lets the phone draw power directly while gaming instead of constantly charging the battery, which helps control heat during long sessions.

Price and availability

In China, the 12GB + 256GB model costs $1,050. The 16GB + 512GB version is priced at $1,200, while the 16GB + 1TB model costs $1,350. Red Magic has also previewed a limited-edition Golden Saga model with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage in a forged-carbon cooling design, though its price and release date are not confirmed.

International availability, including Pakistan, has not been announced. Pakistani buyers will have to wait for the global rollout before the phone reaches local retailers.

How it compares

The launch follows a busy month for phone releases tracked on this site. Samsung’s Galaxy M08 and F08 targeted the budget segment earlier this month, while the Vivo V80 and Poco C95 Pro covered the mid-range. The Red Magic 12 Pro+ sits well above all of them: its 185Hz display, active cooling fan and shoulder triggers are aimed squarely at competitive mobile gamers rather than everyday users.
