Security forces killed 10 terrorists, including a woman, during a Gwadar operation after armed men attempted attacks near the Gabd border crossing and in Gwadar city, the military’s media wing said on Friday.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations said the attacks took place on Thursday. One civilian was killed and several vehicles were damaged. The operations ended without any casualties among security personnel, and order had been restored, the statement added.
The ISPR described the attackers as Indian-sponsored terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan. “Security forces foiled the terrorists’ designs and their bid to undermine the writ of the state and spread their misconstrued agenda,” the statement said.
Second Gwadar operation in two days
The latest Gwadar operation follows another security action in the port city a day earlier. State media reported that security forces had killed three terrorists while foiling an attempt to attack an unoccupied construction company camp in Gwadar, and had surrounded other suspects. Feature Pakistan reported that earlier operation in Security Forces Kill Three Terrorists, Foil Attack on Gwadar Construction Camp.
In a separate action, security forces targeted terrorists hiding in a hotel near the Gwadar Highway, with the area’s general officer commanding personally leading the operation, according to the earlier report.
The back-to-back operations underline the pressure on security forces in Balochistan, where militants have repeatedly targeted civilians, convoys and installations. Earlier this week, Field Marshal Asim Munir vowed that the campaign against militant outfits would continue, as reported in Munir vows to hit Indian-sponsored outfits hard.
ISPR condemns use of woman in attack
The military’s media wing strongly condemned what it called the coercion of a Baloch woman into the attack, describing it as a crime against the state and against the honour of Baloch women.
“The coercion of a Baloch woman into this attack is a crime not only against the state but also against the hurmat of Baloch women,” the statement said.
It added that the use of women for propaganda was intended to inflame public sentiment and lend a false sense of legitimacy to the terrorists’ campaign, calling such tactics contrary to Baloch and Islamic traditions.
The ISPR said the terrorists had targeted the very people they claimed to represent, seeking to obstruct Balochistan’s development and prosperity. It added that the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue.
“Security forces and law enforcement agencies remain resolute in eliminating foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the statement said.
President Zardari praises security forces
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for foiling the terrorist attacks in Gwadar and killing 10 terrorists, while expressing grief over the civilian’s death.
He said attempts to undermine peace and stability in Balochistan would not weaken the people’s resolve to pursue development and prosperity, stressing that peace was essential to safeguarding their rights and interests. He also condemned the exploitation of Baloch women’s dignity for political purposes.
Balochistan has seen a rise in militant violence in recent years. According to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data project, attacks in Pakistan rose nearly fourfold to 2,425 in 2025 from 658 in 2022. In a similar incident last week, 20 trainee police personnel were abducted by unidentified armed men while travelling between Kalat and Mastung in Balochistan. Security forces have also carried out intelligence-based operations elsewhere in the province, including the recent operation in which an army major and four terrorists were killed.
