Kyiv: Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that Ukraine has signed a significant defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, marking a new step in military cooperation between the two countries.
He shared the update on social media, stating that the agreement has been finalized between Ukraine and the Saudi Ministry of Defense. The deal was concluded ahead of his meeting with Mohammed bin Salman.
According to Zelenskyy, the agreement will strengthen future defense partnerships. It will also promote technology exchange and open new avenues for investment. As a result, Ukraine aims to enhance its global defense position.
Moreover, he emphasized that Ukraine is ready to share its expertise in defense systems. This cooperation, he said, will help improve the protection of human lives in conflict-affected regions.
He also pointed out that Ukraine has been facing continuous ballistic missile and drone attacks for years. Therefore, the country has developed practical experience in dealing with such threats.
At the same time, he noted that similar security challenges are now emerging in the Middle East and Gulf region. Consequently, both countries can benefit from sharing defense capabilities.
Meanwhile, during his meeting with Mohammed bin Salman, key regional and global issues were discussed. These included the overall security situation, energy markets, and possible geopolitical developments.
Separately, reports indicate that regional defense systems have recently intercepted multiple drones and missiles. This highlights the growing importance of advanced air defense technologies.
Furthermore, Ukraine has been working to expand its defense cooperation with Middle Eastern countries. It has also deployed anti-drone experts to support regional security efforts.
Experts say Ukraine’s experience in countering drone warfare could be valuable. However, environmental challenges such as sandstorms in the region may affect operations.
Overall, the Ukraine-Saudi defense deal reflects a broader effort to strengthen security partnerships. As global tensions rise, such cooperation is becoming increasingly important.
