The National Database and Registration Authority has opened another registration facility in Karachi to make public services faster and easier for citizens. The new NADRA center, which started operations in Gulzar e Hijri, aims to reduce pressure on nearby registration offices.
Officials said the modern facility will help thousands of residents from surrounding areas access identity registration and verification services more conveniently. As a result, citizens will now spend less time waiting for important documentation processes.
Federal Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui attended the inauguration ceremony along with several provincial assembly members. During the event, officials highlighted the importance of expanding public service facilities in Karachi due to the city’s growing population.
The newly opened NADRA center includes six one-window counters. Authorities expect the facility to handle around 250 to 300 visitors every day. Moreover, officials introduced separate counters for senior citizens and Pak ID services to improve efficiency and reduce waiting time.
In addition, the center also includes a self-service section where visitors can complete certain procedures independently. This feature aims to make the registration process more user-friendly and modern.
Officials further stated that the NADRA center offers iris verification services for people who have problems with fingerprint matching. This facility will especially help elderly citizens and individuals whose fingerprints are difficult to verify through regular biometric systems.
The center also includes accessibility facilities for people with disabilities. Wheelchairs are available for visitors who require assistance. Furthermore, management installed a standby generator to ensure uninterrupted electricity during working hours. Authorities also arranged a spacious waiting area with seating capacity for nearly 100 people.
According to NADRA representatives, the new facility will benefit nearly 1.2 to 1.5 million residents from Gulzar e Hijri, Jamali Pul, Scheme 33, Super Highway, Al Asif, and nearby neighborhoods. Consequently, people living in these areas will no longer need to travel long distances for registration services.
Officials added that an evening shift may also begin in the future if public demand continues to increase. Therefore, the NADRA center could further expand its services to accommodate more citizens across Karachi.
