Imran Khan Hospital Transfer Update: Security Arrangements Completed

ISLAMABAD (August 20, 2026): Preparations for the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to a hospital have been completed, with authorities finalizing security arrangements in Islamabad.

According to sources, Imran Khan is expected to be shifted to the executive block of Shifa International Hospital, where a special medical board will oversee his treatment.

The medical board will include senior specialists from different fields, including cardiology, gastroenterology, and medicine. Doctors from other departments, including ophthalmology, general surgery, and dentistry, will also examine the PTI founder.

Sources said that after his transfer, doctors are expected to conduct several medical tests, including liver, cardiac, and blood sugar assessments, to evaluate his health condition.

Meanwhile, security arrangements around the hospital have been strengthened. The Inspector General of Islamabad Police and senior police officials visited the hospital to review the security plan and receive briefings from officers.

Authorities have also started clearing vehicles parked outside the hospital as part of the security measures. Police teams remain on high alert ahead of the expected transfer.

Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan also reached Adiala Jail, while his cousin Qasim Khan was present there. However, police stopped Aleema Khan at the jail entrance.

The development comes after the Supreme Court ordered the PTI founder’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital on medical grounds. The court directed that he receive treatment at the private medical facility amid concerns raised by his legal team and family regarding his health.

A three-member Supreme Court bench allowed Imran Khan’s personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan and his sister Dr Uzma Khan to remain involved in his medical care. The court also permitted family meetings once a week during his treatment period.

During the hearing, the court discussed issues related to medical expenses and the confidentiality of health reports. Imran Khan’s legal team assured the court that his family would cover treatment costs.

Barrister Salman Akram Raja also assured that medical reports would remain confidential and would not be used for political purposes.

The PTI leadership and family members have repeatedly emphasized the need for proper medical facilities, while authorities continue preparations for his safe transfer and treatment.

The situation remains closely monitored as security agencies finalize arrangements around the hospital and government officials oversee the implementation of court directions.
