How the playoff race was decided
Peshawar Zalmi were the season’s runaway leaders: 8 wins from 10 and a +2.324 NRR that no one could touch, built on Babar Azam’s record-equalling 588 runs (Player of the Tournament).
The real drama was at the cut-off. Hyderabad Kingsmen, Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings all finished on 10 points — and net run rate sent the debutant Kingsmen (-0.361) through in fourth, ahead of defending champions Lahore (-0.482) and Karachi (-0.869). The Kingsmen’s recovery was remarkable: they lost their first three matches, then won five of the next seven to reach the playoffs — and then the final — in their debut season.
At the bottom, Rawalpindi Pindiz managed a single win in their first campaign, while 2025’s table-toppers Quetta Gladiators slumped to seventh with three wins.
The final: Zalmi’s second crown
3 May 2026, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore — in front of a record 32,461 spectators, Hyderabad Kingsmen were bowled out for 129 (Aaron Hardie 4/27), and Peshawar Zalmi chased it down at 130/5 with 28 balls to spare. Hardie’s unbeaten 56 completed a player-of-the-match double.
The win ended Zalmi’s nine-year wait since their 2017 title and gave Babar Azam his first major trophy as captain — even though he fell for a duck on the night. For the Kingsmen, a debut-season final remains one of the great first campaigns in franchise cricket.
