Interior Minister Orders Tight Security Plan for Ramadan

Karachi: Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar directed the Sindh Ministry of Interior to finalize a comprehensive security plan ahead of Ramadan. He issued these instructions during a high-level meeting focused on maintaining law and order across the province.

The interior minister emphasized that public safety remains the top priority during the holy month, given increased religious activities and public movement. He instructed law enforcement agencies to stay on high alert at all times.

Lanjar ordered the Sindh Police to strengthen security at mosques, imambargahs, shrines, and other sensitive religious locations. He said authorities must ensure peaceful Taraweeh prayers and other Ramadan gatherings.

The minister directed police officials to increase patrolling in Karachi and other major cities, especially during Seheri and Iftar timings. He stressed that visible police presence would help deter criminal activity.

He instructed the deployment of additional police mobiles, motorcycle squads, and foot patrols in busy markets and commercial centers. According to him, shoppers and traders must feel secure during extended business hours.

The Sindh Home Minister also ordered strict monitoring of the entry and exit points of cities. He asked security agencies to enhance checking at highways and transport hubs to prevent any untoward incidents.

Lanjar highlighted the importance of intelligence-based operations to counter street crime and organized criminal networks. He said coordination between police, Rangers, and intelligence agencies must remain effective throughout Ramadan.

He warned that the government would take a zero-tolerance approach to profiteering, hoarding, and illegal activities that disturb public peace. He instructed district administrations to work closely with police to enforce the law.

The interior minister further directed authorities to ensure smooth traffic management near mosques and bazaars. He said proper traffic planning would reduce congestion and improve public convenience.

Lanjar also emphasized protecting women, children, and elderly citizens during Ramadan shopping hours. He asked officials to address public complaints promptly and transparently.

The Sindh Ministry of Interior assured that it would monitor the implementation of the security plan daily. Officials said they would review arrangements regularly and make improvements where needed.

The interior minister concluded by stating that collective efforts from law enforcement and the public are essential for a peaceful Ramadan. He urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities immediately.
