Israeli officials claimed that an Al-Qassam commander was killed in an operation that took place during a major airstrike in Gaza City on Friday. According to Israeli authorities, the attack targeted senior Hamas military figure Izz al-Din al-Haddad in the Rimal area of Gaza.
The Israeli Air Force carried out the strike on a residential apartment building. Soon after the attack, Israeli officials said they received confirmation about the death of Al-Qassam commander. However, Hamas and the Al-Qassam Brigades have not officially confirmed or denied the claim so far.
Reports stated that the strike also targeted a nearby vehicle during the same operation. As a result, four more people lost their lives in the attack. Palestinian sources described the strike as one of the most intense attacks carried out in the area in recent days.
Israeli authorities presented the operation as a breakthrough against Hamas’ military leadership. At the same time, security officials continued to share details with local media about the alleged success of the mission.
According to Palestinian sources, Izz al-Din al-Haddad served as the last surviving member of a five-member military council formed after the deaths of Mohammed Deif, Yahya Sinwar, and Mohammed Sinwar. The group reportedly managed military affairs for the Al-Qassam Brigades during the ongoing conflict.
The news that an Al-Qassam commander killed quickly spread across regional and international media platforms. In addition, social media users reacted strongly as discussions about the Gaza conflict intensified once again.
Meanwhile, analysts believe the latest strike could further increase tensions in the region. Many observers expect possible responses from Palestinian groups if Hamas officially confirms the death of its senior military leader.
The Israeli military continues its operations in different parts of Gaza as clashes and airstrikes remain ongoing. At the same time, humanitarian organizations continue raising concerns about civilian casualties and damage to residential areas.
So far, Hamas has maintained silence regarding the Israeli statement. Therefore, uncertainty still surrounds the exact details of the operation and the condition of the targeted commander.
