Pakistan and Germany have signed a major technical cooperation agreement worth 40.5 million euros to launch nine new development projects across different sectors. The agreement marks another important step in the long-standing partnership between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the new projects will focus on climate resilience, renewable energy, and social protection programs. Officials said the agreement will further strengthen bilateral cooperation and support Pakistan’s sustainable development goals.
The Pakistan-Germany partnership has remained active for decades. Both countries continue to work together on economic development, environmental protection, and public welfare initiatives. The latest agreement also highlights their shared interest in addressing global challenges through practical cooperation.
Secretary, Economic Affairs, Muhammad Humair Karim, signed the agreement on behalf of the Government of Pakistan. Meanwhile, German Ambassador Anna Lepel represented the German government during the signing ceremony.
During the event, Muhammad Humair Karim expressed appreciation for the support provided by the German government and the German Development Bank, commonly known as KfW. He stated that the Pakistan-Germany relationship has developed based on mutual trust and cooperation since 1961.
He also said that the bilateral development portfolio between the two countries has now reached nearly 550 million euros. Furthermore, he described the agreement as another positive milestone in the growing partnership between the two nations.
The new projects will support communities across Pakistan. Officials expect the initiatives to improve energy systems, strengthen climate adaptation efforts, and expand social welfare support in vulnerable areas.
At the same time, German Ambassador Anna Lepel emphasized the importance of the long-standing partnership with Pakistan. She stated that Germany remains committed to supporting sustainable and inclusive development in the country.
She also explained that Pakistan-Germany cooperation reflects a shared commitment to solving international challenges through collective action. These challenges include climate change, energy transition, and social vulnerability.
In addition, the ambassador said the newly approved projects will create meaningful opportunities and long-term benefits for local communities throughout Pakistan. She added that both countries aim to continue joint initiatives in areas that directly improve public welfare and economic stability.
The latest Pakistan-Germany agreement also comes at a time when international cooperation on climate and development issues is becoming increasingly important. Analysts believe such partnerships can help developing countries strengthen infrastructure and improve resilience against environmental and economic pressures.
The agreement further reinforces the strong diplomatic and economic ties between Pakistan and Germany while opening the door for future development cooperation in critical sectors.
