Gold Price Falls Rs1,600 to Rs439,036 Per Tola in Pakistan

Gold price Pakistan update: the precious metal dropped by Rs1,600 per tola on Saturday, closing at Rs439,036, according to rates issued by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association. The fall pushed the yellow metal back below the Rs4.4 lakh mark just a day after it had climbed back above it.

The 10-gram gold rate also fell, shedding Rs1,372 to settle at Rs376,402. The slide mirrors international markets, where gold eased $16 to $4,165 per ounce.

Silver did not escape the downturn either. The white metal lost Rs81 per tola and closed at Rs6,175, taking its weekly fall to Rs380 per tola.

Gold price Pakistan swings through a volatile week

Saturday’s drop capped a choppy week for bullion traders. Gold had gained Rs2,800 per tola on Friday, closing at Rs440,636, after a string of sharp swings: it fell Rs2,100 on Monday, rose Rs900 on Tuesday, dropped Rs3,000 on Wednesday and held unchanged on Thursday.

Over the week, gold lost a net Rs3,000 per tola. It had closed last Saturday at Rs442,036.

The pattern is familiar to local jewellers. Pakistan’s gold market closely tracks international prices, and the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association adjusts local rates daily to reflect the global trend, with premiums for taxes and dealer margins layered on top.

What the new gold price means for buyers

For households, a lower gold price is usually good news. Wedding-season buying in Pakistan picks up in the cooler months, and jewellers say demand for bangles, sets and coins responds quickly to price dips. Lower rates also ease the cost for investors who buy gold as a hedge against rupee depreciation.

But traders warn against reading too much into a single day. Gold has seesawed all week, and international markets remain sensitive to shifts in the dollar, US rate expectations and geopolitical risk. A $16-a-day move abroad can translate into swings of several thousand rupees per tola at home.

Our October 16 report on gold crossing Rs440,000 showed how quickly the metal can breach round-number milestones. The wider economy remains under strain: the balance of payments swung to a $4.39 billion deficit in September, though the State Bank’s forex reserves rose to $21.47 billion, and power consumers face a Rs33 billion hit in November bills.
