LAHORE: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan must now turn its focus toward economic strength after the success of Marka-e-Haq.
First of all, he said the country has achieved important progress in defense and diplomacy. However, he added that this success alone is not enough for long-term stability.
Moreover, he stressed that Pakistan must win the next phase, which is economic growth. According to him, a strong defense always needs a strong economy to survive and grow.
In addition, he said the government is working to improve exports and reduce business barriers. Therefore, it is removing unnecessary rules, delays, and red tape to support investors and industries.
He further explained that Pakistan can become a major global economy if it focuses on exports, industrial growth, and reforms in the next 10 years. As a result, the country can improve its global position.
Meanwhile, he said that the success of Marka-e-Haq has increased national responsibility. Now, he added, every sector must work together to strengthen the economy.
Furthermore, he highlighted that exports are the only sustainable path for growth. For this reason, the government is working with the private sector to expand trade and investment.
He also shared that Pakistan aims to reach $100 billion in exports by 2035. In his view, this goal is as important as any major national achievement.
In addition, he said Pakistan must improve value addition in products. For example, dates, mangoes, handicrafts, and industrial goods can earn more income if processed and marketed properly.
He pointed out that Pakistan produces high-quality products, but it still lacks global branding and packaging. Therefore, he urged businesses to improve quality and international standards.
He said Pakistan has a small share in the Chinese market. China imports trillions of dollars every year, but Pakistan earns only a small portion of it. So, he encouraged businesses to expand trade opportunities.
He said the government and private sector must work as one team. While the government provides support, the private sector must drive investment and growth.
He warned that economic strength is necessary for national stability. Therefore, he called for unity, reforms, and strong export-led policies after Marka-e-Haq.
