ISLAMABAD: The government has announced a reduction in Power Prices across Pakistan. The decision will provide financial relief to millions of electricity consumers during the summer months.
The government has cut electricity tariffs by Rs1.99 per unit. Officials also issued a formal notification to confirm the reduction.
According to the notification, authorities approved the decrease under the quarterly adjustment mechanism. The adjustment covers the period from January to March 2026.
As a result, consumers will pay lower electricity charges in the coming months. The reduction will appear in electricity bills issued for June, July, and August.
Moreover, the decision will benefit consumers across the country. K-Electric customers will also receive the same relief.
The latest cut in Power Prices comes at a time when households are using more energy due to rising temperatures. Therefore, many consumers may notice a reduction in their monthly electricity expenses.
Government officials said the tariff adjustment reflects changes in electricity sector calculations during the relevant quarter. Consequently, consumers will receive direct financial benefits through lower bills.
In addition, the relief package will reduce the burden on families and businesses. Many consumers have expressed concerns about rising utility costs in recent months. Therefore, the reduction in Power Prices may help ease some of that pressure.
Officials estimate that consumers will receive more than Rs67 billion in total relief. This amount will be passed on to electricity users through lower charges over the next three months.
Furthermore, energy sector experts believe the reduction could support consumer spending. Lower utility expenses often leave households with more disposable income for other needs.
Meanwhile, businesses that consume large amounts of electricity may also benefit from lower operating costs. As a result, some sectors could experience modest financial relief during the adjustment period.
The government continues to review electricity sector performance and tariff structures. At the same time, policymakers aim to balance consumer relief with the financial stability of the power sector.
For now, consumers can expect lower electricity bills because of reduced Power Prices. The benefit will remain available throughout June, July, and August.
The latest reduction in Power Prices highlights the government’s effort to provide temporary relief to electricity users across Pakistan.
