Islamabad: The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has issued an official statement about Imran Khan’s treatment and his recent medical examination. The hospital said specialist doctors completed his medical assessment but will keep the details confidential.
According to the PIMS administration, doctors examined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan under specialist supervision. The medical team also conducted the required tests before completing its assessment.
Earlier, authorities had planned to take the former prime minister to Shifa International Hospital for medical examination. However, security concerns and heavy activity at the hospital led officials to change the arrangements.
Therefore, authorities took Imran Khan to PIMS, where doctors examined him. After completing the process, officials took him back to Adiala Jail.
The PIMS statement said authorities brought the PTI founder to the hospital overnight between August 20 and August 21. Medical specialists then examined him and reviewed his condition.
Two eye specialists from Shifa International Hospital also examined Imran Khan at PIMS. Their examination was an important part of Imran Khan’s overall treatment and medical assessment.
PIMS specialists also conducted their own detailed examination. The medical team then considered the eye specialists’ opinion while preparing its overall assessment.
According to the hospital administration, a board of PIMS doctors reviewed the findings after the examinations. The board then prepared a medical fitness report for the former prime minister.
However, PIMS said it cannot share the report’s contents with the public. The administration cited Supreme Court directions in explaining its decision.
Furthermore, the hospital stressed that it will respect the patient’s medical privacy. Therefore, officials will not release specific findings, test results, or other confidential information from the medical report.
