Capt Faheem Abbas Shaheed: A Father of Twins

He never held his daughters. But they will hold his name for the rest of their lives.

A few months after his wedding, Captain Faheem Abbas Shaheed of the Pakistan Army was leading his men against terrorists in North Waziristan. His wife was carrying their children — twin girls he would never meet. They would grow up knowing their father was a hero of Pakistan.

Capt Faheem Abbas — 135 Long Course, 72 Punjab Regiment — embraced shahadat on 5 May 2021 during a counter-terrorism operation at Dosali, North Waziristan, against terrorists of the TTP present in the area. He was young. He was newly married. And he was leading from the front — exactly where his training and his character had always placed him.

The Dosali Operation

He did not fall alone. Sepoy Shafi Ullah Shaheed of the 72 Punjab Regiment — himself married only a week earlier — and Sepoy Naeem Shah Shaheed of the same regiment embraced shahadat beside him. Three men of one regiment. Two of them grooms of weeks and months. All gone in a single operation.

It was the kind of operation the Pakistan Army conducts relentlessly in the tribal districts: moving into militant-held ground, taking the fight to terrorists who hide among the population, paying for every gain in blood. Captain Faheem led his troops into that fight, and he gave his life in it. The TTP presence in the Dosali area was degraded that day — but the price was written in three families’ grief.

The Original Tribute

The tribute shared on the fifth anniversary of the Dosali operation reads:

Today is 5th shahadat anniversary of Capt Faheem Abbas Shaheed 135L/C ex 72PR, along with Sep Shafi Ullah Shaheed ex 72PR (Married a week ago) & Sep Naeem Shah Shaheed ex 72PR.

On 05 May 2021, at Dosali, NW, Counter terrorism ops was carried out against TTP present in the area. In which Capt Faheem Abbas along with 2x Jawans embraced shahadat.

Capt Faheem Abbas Shaheed got married few months before his shahadat. After his shahadat he was blessed with twin baby girls.

Twins Born Into a Legacy

After his shahadat, Capt Faheem Abbas was blessed with twin baby girls — daughters who will never sit in their father’s lap but will inherit his name, his honour, and the pride of a nation.

There are few images in the story of Pakistan’s shuhada more moving than this: two little girls, born into a world without their father, growing up inside a legacy he wrote for them with his life.

Every year on 5 May, his shahadat anniversary is observed — the fifth in 2026 — and the story is told again: of a young officer, newly married, who chose duty over everything. Of Sepoy Shafi Ullah, married a week before his shahadat — a bride widowed before the wedding flowers had wilted. Of Sepoy Naeem Shah, who stood beside them both to the end. Three weddings’ worth of happiness, interrupted. Three families’ worth of pride, eternal.

What the Living Owe

Stories like this force a question on the living that no one can answer comfortably: what do we owe the children of the fallen?

The twin daughters of Capt Faheem Abbas will grow up in a Pakistan their father died to protect. They will go to school, make friends, build lives in a country that is safer because he stood at Dosali on the 5th of May 2021. The nation’s debt to them is not abstract. It is personal — and it is permanent.

In the Pakistan Army, officers and jawans fall together, and they are remembered together. The tribute names all three, because the sacrifice belonged to all three.

Anniversaries exist so that grief does not have to carry the whole weight of memory alone. Every 5th of May, the telling of this story is renewed — and with it, the promise that Pakistan does not forget. Not the captain. Not the two sepoys. Not the brides. Not the twin girls.

Memory is the least the nation can offer. It is also the most the nation must never withhold.

We salute Captain Faheem Abbas Shaheed, Sepoy Shafi Ullah Shaheed, and Sepoy Naeem Shah Shaheed. Three brave sons of the nation. Three families’ sacrifice. One unbreakable legacy — honoured for as long as Pakistan stands.
