Samsung Galaxy S27 Leak Hints at Rear Camera Redesign, Nearly Same Front

Samsung’s next Ultra flagship may keep a familiar face while changing its back. A fresh Galaxy S27 redesign leak, based on screen protectors shared by well-known tipster Ice Universe, suggests the front of the phone will look almost identical to the current Galaxy S26 Ultra, even as the rear camera layout could get the line’s most noticeable redesign in years.

The leak comes from Ice Universe, who shared screen protectors said to belong to the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The tipster described the front-display change as potentially the smallest between two consecutive Ultra flagships in Samsung’s history. SamMobile and GSMArena both carried the leak, noting the protectors look nearly identical to — perhaps even interchangeable with — S26 Ultra protectors.

Galaxy S27 Redesign: Front Display Nearly Unchanged

The protectors indicate Samsung is holding the line on the front design. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to keep a 6.9-inch display with a resolution of 3120 by 1440 pixels — the same dimensions carried by the S26 Ultra and S25 Ultra. Samsung’s Privacy Display feature is also expected to return, and the bezels should remain the same.

New M16 OLED Panel Underneath

While the shape stays the same, the screen technology is tipped to move forward. The Galaxy S27 Ultra, along with the S27 Pro, is expected to use Samsung’s next-generation M16 OLED display, which should deliver better power efficiency, improved colour accuracy and higher brightness.

The M16 panel has already appeared on the iQOO 16, where it is rated for up to 10,000 nits of local peak brightness and 2,800 nits of global peak brightness, while consuming up to 30 per cent less power than the previous generation.

New Selfie Camera

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is also rumoured to receive a new 16MP front camera, replacing the 12MP selfie camera Samsung has used on recent flagships. Reports of the upgraded front camera first surfaced in July and were reiterated in September. That would mark another hardware change on the front, even though the phone’s overall shape stays close to its predecessor.

Bigger Battery in the Same Footprint

Samsung is reportedly working on increasing battery capacity without making the phone noticeably larger. The company is said to be improving the battery’s energy density, which would allow more capacity in roughly the same physical space. The exact capacity has not yet been disclosed, though the phone is tipped to be a touch heavier — 215 grams against the S26 Ultra’s 214 grams.

Rear Camera Island Could Be Reworked

The visible change may come at the back. Leaks suggest Samsung could introduce a much larger camera island stretching across most of the phone’s width, though the individual cameras are still expected to sit toward the left side of the module. It appears Samsung has focused its design attention on the rear camera island while keeping the rest of the phone mostly unchanged.

Launch Timeline

The Galaxy S27 series is expected to launch early next year, so more details are likely to surface in the coming months. The new flagships will arrive as Samsung’s premium tier, sitting above Samsung’s recent Galaxy M08 and F08 launches aimed at budget buyers, and buyers weighing the range can compare options in guides to the best camera phones available in Pakistan and the top mobile phones worth buying in Pakistan in 2026.
