Samsung Enters Open-Ear Market With Clip-On Galaxy Buds On

Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Buds On earbuds, its first clip-on open-ear wireless earbuds. The announcement marks Samsung’s entry into the open-ear audio segment, where earbuds rest on the ear instead of sealing the ear canal.

Sales begin in South Korea on October 27, 2026, at KRW 299,000, roughly $220. The earbuds launch in black, and Samsung has not yet announced launch dates or prices for other markets.

A clip design that leaves the ear canal open

The Galaxy Buds On use a clip-style band that latches onto the ear and leaves the ear canal open. The design keeps users aware of their surroundings, which suits runners, cyclists and commuters. It also removes the pressure fatigue that silicone ear tips can cause during long listening sessions.

Samsung says it used ear-shape data and computer simulations to fine-tune the placement of the speakers and batteries. The contact surfaces spread pressure across the band, and the connecting band has been tuned for stability during larger movements. Playback and call controls sit on the touch-sensitive rear area of each earbud.

TwinBoost speakers and leak control

Open-ear designs often struggle with weak bass. Samsung answers this with custom TwinBoost speakers built to reinforce low frequencies. The buds also carry Audio Leakage Reduction technology that limits how much sound nearby people can hear.

Volume adjusts automatically to the surrounding environment. The hardware runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound platform with a Class-D amplifier, and Samsung rates battery life at up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge — and Samsung users in Pakistan can currently claim three months of Spotify Premium free for the listening. A charging case with USB Type-C handles top-ups.

Calls, Gemini Live and head gestures

For calls, the earbuds combine three microphones with a bone-conduction Voice Pickup sensor and Intelligent Clear Call processing that separates the speaker’s voice from background noise.

The Buds On support voice access to Gemini Live for hands-free conversational assistance. A long press on the touch area records a voice memo that Bixby can search later. Head gestures add another control layer: users can nod or shake their head to answer or end calls, dismiss alarms and check phone notifications.

Samsung Galaxy Buds On earbuds price and availability

Samsung plans to bring the Galaxy Buds On to other international markets in later rollout phases, but regional launch dates and prices have not been announced. Buyers outside South Korea will have to wait for local availability details.

The launch continues a busy season for Samsung hardware, following the recent Galaxy M08 and F08 launch and the leaks around the Galaxy S27 redesign.
