Amir Jangoo Earns T20I Call-Up After Sparkling ODI Run in India
Amir Jangoo has earned a T20I call-up, winning a place in the West Indies’ squad for the upcoming five-match series against India after a prolific ODI campaign, with the wicketkeeper-batter called up as cover for the injured Jewel Andrew.
Andrew suffered a finger injury while completing a catch during India’s third ODI against the West Indies on October 3. The youngster held on to dismiss Naman Dhir at cover off Gudakesh Motie in the 36th over but was struck on the finger in the process. He was taken to hospital for an X-ray and further assessment, with scans confirming there was no fracture.
Andrew did not immediately return to the field and subsequently did not bat during West Indies’ record successful chase in New Chandigarh. He remains under observation by the team’s medical staff and has not yet been ruled out of the T20I series.
