Two Little Girls Will Grow Up Calling Him a Hero
On 22 April 2022, Major Shahid Bashir Shaheed embraced shahadat in an ambush by terrorists at Kohlu, Balochistan. An officer of the 125th PMA Long Course, commissioned into 22 Azad Kashmir Regiment and serving with the Frontier Corps Balochistan, he was doing what FC officers do every day: standing between the people of Balochistan and those who would do them harm. He left behind a widow and two little daughters — children who will grow up knowing their father was a hero, but who will never stop missing him.
No Warning, No Quarter
An ambush gives no warning and no quarter. It is the coward’s tactic — and it takes the bravest of men to face it. Major Shahid Bashir faced it as a soldier should. The Frontier Corps Balochistan holds one of the most demanding assignments in the country, and its officers lead from the front every day. A soldier’s course, his regiment, and his formation: these are the three families every officer leaves behind. The 125th Long Course, 22 Azad Kashmir Regiment, and FC Balochistan all keep his name.
For His Little Daughters
They were little when he left — too young to understand why their father did not come home from Kohlu, old enough now to understand what the nation says about him every 22 April. For the two little daughters of Major Shahid Bashir, their father will always be the hero of the tribute: the brave son of Balochistan who gave everything. They will grow up in a country that honours his name. That is the nation’s promise to the children of its martyrs — that their fathers’ sacrifice will never be forgotten.
An ambush gives no warning and no quarter; it is the coward’s tactic, and there was no chance to say goodbye. That is the cruelty his widow lives with, and the courage the nation honours. Major Shahid Bashir faced it as a soldier should — standing between the people of Balochistan and those who would do them harm, as FC officers do every day. The 125th Long Course, 22 Azad Kashmir Regiment, and FC Balochistan all keep his name. And every 22 April, the country repeats the tribute’s words: thank you, heroes. You gave your everything for this nation. We will never forget you, heroes.
Kohlu took him, but it could not take what he stood for. His daughters will carry his name with pride all their lives — and Pakistan will stand with them, today and always.
