Earnings season in context
The result extends a strong run for Pakistan’s corporate sector. The country’s top 20 textile firms posted a combined Rs52 billion profit in FY26, showing that listed companies are still growing even as the KSE-100 plunged over 1,400 points on selling pressure and the government taps global debt markets with fresh Eurobond issues.
The broader economy, though, remains fragile. The World Bank puts the poverty rate at 29 per cent, a reminder that boardroom profits and household incomes are moving in different directions.
