Pakistan Army Wins Silver at Cambrian Patrol 2026 in Wales

LONDON: The Pakistan Army has won a silver medal at Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2026 in Wales, United Kingdom, extending its medal-winning streak at the international military competition to five consecutive years.

The exercise ran from October 2 to 13 and drew 140 teams from 36 countries. Pakistan was represented by an eight-member team from the 59 Punjab Regiment, comprising one officer and seven soldiers.

Cambrian Patrol is considered one of the most demanding international military patrolling competitions in the world, testing participants’ professional skills, leadership, navigation and physical fitness over punishing terrain in the Welsh hills. Teams carry full kit across long distances while facing continuous tactical tests.

Five years of Pakistan Army medals at Cambrian Patrol

This year’s silver keeps Pakistan on the podium for a fifth straight year. Pakistan previously secured silver medals in 2022 and 2023, followed by gold medals in 2024 and 2025.

2024Gold

2026Silver

The progression from consecutive silvers to back-to-back golds, and now a return to silver, keeps Pakistan among the exercise’s most consistent performers.

High Commissioner hosts the team

Following the competition, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Tipu Usman, hosted the team at the Pakistan High Commission in London on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the High Commission, Usman congratulated the team on its achievement and discussed their experience during the exercise. The team’s performance, the statement said, reflected the Pakistan Army’s professionalism and physical fitness at the international level.

The exercise continues a strong year for Pakistan’s military on the international stage. The Navy concluded its major SEASPARK-2026 exercise in Karachi on Wednesday, underlining the armed forces’ emphasis on demonstrating professional readiness.

What Cambrian Patrol tests

The competition is run by the British Army and takes its name from the Cambrian Mountains. Patrols navigate between checkpoints across some of Wales’ harshest terrain, carrying out orders under pressure with little sleep. Medals are awarded to teams that meet exacting standards, gold for the few that complete nearly every task to the highest standard.

For an eight-man team from a single regiment to medal five years in a row against 140 teams from 36 countries is a record of consistency few armies can match.
