The Essentials
Current Affairs in Urdu at a Glance
Why millions of Pakistanis prefer their news in Urdu — in numbers.
The Language of the Nation
Why Follow Current Affairs in Urdu?
Urdu is Pakistan’s national language and lingua franca — and for most of the country, it is the language news actually lives in.
English newspapers like Dawn set the agenda in drawing rooms, but Urdu media sets it everywhere else. The biggest TV audiences, the largest newspaper circulations (Jang, Nawa-i-Waqt, Express, Dunya) and the most-shared WhatsApp forwards are all in Urdu. Political speeches, talk shows and press conferences happen in Urdu first — translations into English always lose tone, idiom and intent.
For students, following current affairs in Urdu has a practical edge: concepts stick better in the language you think in, and CSS/PMS examiners reward answers that show genuine engagement with national discourse, not memorised English notes. Our Pakistan ka Naksha in Urdu guide shows how the same approach works for geography.

The Habit
Your Daily Urdu Current Affairs Routine
Twenty focused minutes a day beats three hours of scrolling — here is the routine that works.
Morning Headlines
Start with one Urdu bulletin or our daily current affairs briefing — five minutes for the overnight picture: politics, economy, world.
One Deep Read
Pick ONE story and read it properly in Urdu — an editorial or analysis piece. Depth on one story beats headlines on twenty.
Evening Talk Show
One current-affairs talk show teaches you how Pakistan argues with itself — the positions, the personalities, the pressure points.
Keep a diary. CSS toppers swear by it: one line per day in Urdu on the biggest story, one line on why it matters. After three months you own a personal current-affairs archive no guidebook can match. Daily updates & exam prep guide →
For Aspirants
Current Affairs for CSS & PMS Exams
The Current Affairs paper is worth 100 marks in the CSS written exam — and it is won in Urdu living rooms as much as English libraries.
What Examiners Want
Current Affairs (100 marks) tests Pakistan’s domestic politics, economy, foreign relations and global issues. Examiners reward structured arguments with recent facts — the kind you absorb from daily Urdu news, not last-minute notes.
Study in Urdu, Write in English
Understand every issue deeply in Urdu first — talk shows, editorials, debates — then practise expressing it in exam English. Your arguments will carry the confidence of someone who actually follows the story. CSS vs PMS vs PCS →
The Slogan
Long Live Pakistan in Urdu
“Pakistan Zindabad” — Long Live Pakistan — is the country’s great patriotic cry, raised at independence, on battlefields, in stadiums and at every national celebration.
The slogan grew popular after Choudhry Rahmat Ali’s 1933 “Pakistan Declaration”, was adopted by the All-India Muslim League during the Pakistan Movement, and was formally adopted as a national slogan by the Bihar Muslim Student Federation on 23 December 1940. When Pakistan was born on 14 August 1947, “Pakistan Zindabad” echoed across the new nation — and it has never fallen silent since. Meaning, history & essay guide →
