Sohail Afridi Unveils Five-Day March Plan to Reach Peshawar by Oct 8

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has unveiled a five-day march plan for the PTI’s long march, announcing in the wee hours of Sunday that the march would reach Peshawar by October 8. The five-day march plan was shared by the chief minister on X, setting out the next phase of the protest movement.

The October 4 march is being held on the call of the PTI leadership, with workers mobilised across the province for what the party says is a peaceful push for the release of the PTI founder.

Rs1.4 million raised in an hour at Mardan

At a consultation meeting at the residence of PTI MPA Zahir Shah Toru in Mardan, workers from constituency PK-57 gathered to finalise local arrangements. Toru urged the workers to remain “peaceful, organised and responsible” and to stay within the bounds of the law.

The meeting raised Rs1.4 million in donations for the long march within a single hour, and a finance committee was formed to manage the funds transparently.

Participants at the meeting resolved that the march would proceed through peaceful and constitutional means, with a commitment to protecting law and order, the routine activities of citizens, and public and government property.

‘Go to every extent’ for the founder’s release

Toru told the workers that they would go to every extent on the leadership’s call for the release of the PTI founder, framing the march as the next step after the collapse of negotiations.

The announcement comes after the second round of talks between the government and the PTI ended without a breakthrough in the early hours of Sunday, clearing the way for the march to go ahead as planned.

The long march, originally scheduled for September 27, was postponed and is now under way, with the K-P chief minister’s five-day programme giving it a defined route and timeline through to October 8.
