Capt Zargham Fareed Qureshi Shaheed: He Walked Towards the Danger

Eight years have passed, yet the name still carries the same weight. On 7 November 2018, Captain Zargham Fareed Qureshi Shaheed embraced martyrdom in Mohmand District. He was only 25 years old, and he gave his life doing one of the most dangerous jobs a soldier can do: walking towards a bomb so that others would not have to.

Capt Zargham Fareed Qureshi Shaheed: He Walked Towards the Danger

His story is short in the telling and heavy in meaning. A soldier does not ask for fame. He asks only to serve with honour, and Captain Zargham did exactly that. Today, on his eighth shahadat anniversary, his family, his regiment, and his nation remember him again.

Zargham Fareed Qureshi Shaheed and His Final Mission

On that Wednesday morning, security forces had detected an improvised explosive device at Mohmad Gat, in the Sheikh Baba Pesto Kandow area of Safi Tehsil. Captain Zargham moved in with his bomb disposal team to neutralise it. The device went off while they worked on it, and he died on the spot. Sepoy Rehan, a member of the bomb disposal team, was critically injured in the same blast. The Director General of ISPR, Major General Asif Ghafoor, shared the news the same day. He wrote that another son of the soil had laid down his life while performing his duty.

A Young Officer From Sargodha

Captain Zargham was 25 years old and unmarried. He belonged to Sargodha, and he was the pride of 129 Long Course, serving with 87 SP Medium Artillery and 205 Wing Frontier Corps (North). His name tape read Zarghaam, and his comrades knew him as an officer who led from the front. On that day in Mohmand, he proved it for the last time. The Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his grief over the martyrdom the same day, and the whole nation stood with his family.

Zargham Fareed Qureshi Shaheed Lives On in Memory

His funeral prayers were offered at Peshawar Cantonment, and his body was taken to Sargodha for burial with full military honours. Eight years later, his anniversary still brings people together in remembrance. Tributes like this one keep his name alive for a new generation. Young readers who never met him can still learn what he stood for: duty, courage, and love for Pakistan.

Will you keep his memory alive? Share his story with someone who should know it. Finally, remember Captain Zargham Fareed Qureshi Shaheed not only on 7 November, but in every prayer for those who serve and those who never came home.
