Thal Jeep Rally 2026 pushed back a week, new dates October 16 to 18
The Thal Jeep Rally 2026 has been postponed by one week and will now take place on October 16, 17 and 18 instead of the previously announced October 9, 10 and 11. The district administration has finalised the revised dates, and preparations will now proceed according to the new schedule.
The opening of the three-day event shifts to October 16 and the rally will conclude on October 18. The duration of the event is unchanged; only the week has moved.
Why the Thal Jeep Rally 2026 was postponed
Organisers cited weather conditions and administrative matters as the reasons for the delay. The announcement did not specify which weather conditions or which administrative issues prompted the decision, and no further detail has been shared on either count.
The revised timetable has the approval of the district administration, which is responsible for security, traffic and the local arrangements around the track. Organisers will now make their plans for the opening and closing ceremonies around the new dates.
What the new dates mean for fans and drivers
The shift keeps the full three-day format intact. Drivers, support crews and spectators who had planned around October 9 to 11 will need to move their travel and accommodation bookings a week forward.
Officials have not yet shared a revised day-by-day schedule. There are also no confirmed details yet of the individual races, qualifying rounds or the accompanying cultural and family events. All of that is expected to be announced as preparations pick up under the new timetable.
About the 11th Thal Jeep Rally
This year’s event is the 11th edition of the rally, held across the Thal Desert in the districts of Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu and Layyah. It is organised by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) together with the district administrations.
Earlier reviews of the arrangements were chaired by Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Division Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry, covering the rally route, security, traffic management, medical facilities, drinking water, cleanliness and accommodation. Past editions have drawn more than 100 racers, including champion drivers such as Nadir Magsi, and the event has grown into one of Punjab’s best-known motorsport gatherings.
The track in earlier editions ran for around 180 kilometres, starting and finishing at Changa Manga Tela in Muzaffargarh and passing through Tehsil Chobara in Layyah. Alongside the racing, the rally usually features cultural programmes, family events, traditional sports and musical nights, which draw large crowds from across the region.
