Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 32 runs in Faisalabad on Sunday to record the Pakistan U19 fourth defeat of the Women’s U19 Tri-Nation T20 Series. Bangladesh made 136 for five at Iqbal Stadium, and Pakistan replied with 104 for nine in the seventh match of the tournament.
The result deepens a difficult week for the hosts. Pakistan, led by Fizza Fiaz, had already lost heavily on Friday, when Sri Lanka beat them by nine wickets at the same ground. Sunday’s defeat leaves them with one group match to play and little room for error.
Sadia lifts Bangladesh after a slow start
Bangladesh batted first and lost their way early. Openers Mymuna Naher and Ochena Jannat Emanta struggled to score freely against the new ball. Naher made 13 from 24 balls, with two fours, while Emanta fell to the second ball she faced without scoring.
Nishita Akter Nishi added 20 from 20 balls, but Bangladesh were still 58 for three at one stage. The innings then turned on a 54-run partnership between Shirina Khatun and Sadia Islam. Shirina made 32 from 40 balls, with three fours, before she retired out. Sadia top-scored with 44 from 28 balls. She hit three fours and two sixes, and she kept the scoring rate high through the middle overs.
Captain Sadia Akter finished the innings quickly. She struck 14 from seven balls, with three fours, as Bangladesh closed on 136 for five. For Pakistan, Shahar Bano, Mahnoor Zeb and Rozina Akram took one wicket each.
Pakistan U19 fourth defeat sealed by Medha spell
Pakistan needed a strong start in reply, but Bangladesh’s bowlers held their lines throughout. Opener Ravail Farhan fought hard at the top of the order. She top-scored with 36 from 26 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes. Aqsa Habib added 23 from 32 balls, with one four, yet no other batter reached a score that could change the match.
Farjana Easmim Medha led the Bangladesh attack. She took three wickets for 19 runs in her four overs, and her spell broke the chase in the middle overs. Nishi claimed two wickets, while Afrin Mim, Jannatul Ferdousi and Tithi Das Aporna took one each. Pakistan closed on 104 for nine, still 32 runs short.

What the Pakistan U19 fourth defeat means for the final
The tri-series uses a triple round-robin format, and the top two teams meet in the final on October 16. Pakistan’s one bright result so far came on October 3, when they chased 125 to beat Sri Lanka by five wickets. Since then, the batting has failed to build partnerships, and totals of 110 and 104 have left the bowlers too little to defend.
Pakistan now face Sri Lanka again on Monday in their last group match. A win would keep their hopes of a place in the final alive, while another defeat would end their campaign. The young side will need a stronger start with the bat and better support for Ravail at the top of the order.
Away from the junior series, Faisalabad is also hosting senior domestic cricket this month, with the National Women’s T20 Tournament under way in the city. In senior men’s cricket, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in the first T20I earlier in the series, and the senior side will try to keep its aggressive approach in the second match on Sunday evening. Bangladesh’s senior men also enjoyed a landmark day in Abu Dhabi, where Hasan Mahmud took the first Test hat-trick by a Bangladesh fast bowler.
