Karachi: Saudi authorities have introduced a major update for Hajj pilgrims, imposing a strict age restriction ahead of the upcoming pilgrimage season. According to the latest directive, children under 15 will not be allowed to travel for Hajj.
The decision applies immediately and directly affects thousands of people planning to travel with families. Officials confirmed that the restriction will remain in place until May 27, which marks the Day of Arafah. As a result, all pilgrims must meet the minimum age requirement before departure.
Furthermore, the new rule will come into force within 24 hours. Authorities in Pakistan have already started preparing for implementation. Immigration officials at all major airports will rigorously verify the age of Hajj pilgrims before allowing them to board. Therefore, any pilgrim under 15 will be stopped from traveling.
In addition, officials have clearly stated that visas issued to underage Hajj pilgrims will be treated as canceled. Airlines and Hajj operators must follow these instructions without delay. They must also inform all pilgrims about the latest developments to avoid confusion at airports.
Meanwhile, authorities have provided relief for affected Hajj pilgrims. Those who can no longer travel due to the age restriction can cancel their applications. After cancellation, eligible pilgrims will receive a full refund. This step aims to support families impacted by the sudden policy change.
Moreover, Saudi officials have urged all stakeholders to ensure proper communication. Travel agencies must clearly guide pilgrims. They should also assist them in completing refund procedures smoothly.
This new policy highlights Saudi Arabia’s focus on managing crowd safety during Hajj. At the same time, it ensures better organization of Hajj pilgrims during peak days. Consequently, all intending Hajj pilgrims should review updated guidelines before finalizing travel plans.
