ATC Orders Imran Khan’s Production in Judicial Complex Attack Case
The Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court on Monday ordered the production of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan at the next hearing in the Judicial Complex attack case against him and others.
Judge Tahir Abbas Supra directed that Imran be brought before the court either physically or through video link.
The court also declared former ministers Farrukh Habib, Hammad Azhar, Murad Saeed and Shibli Faraz proclaimed offenders and sought details of their properties. It issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Wasiq Qayyum and PTI MPA Hassan Khan Niazi.
The court adjourned further proceedings in the Judicial Complex case until November 5. The case against the PTI leaders was registered at Ramna Police Station.
What the Judicial Complex case is about
The case stemmed from an incident at Islamabad’s Judicial Complex in February 2023, when Imran arrived to appear before the courts in several cases. A large number of PTI supporters had gathered at the complex, where police said they removed security barriers, damaged the entrance and disrupted court proceedings.
Police subsequently registered a case against Imran, PTI leaders and workers under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and other provisions. The police alleged that an armed crowd had entered the complex and damaged government property, while several people were arrested and weapons were recovered.
The case was separate from Imran’s arrest in May 2023. He was arrested by National Accountability Bureau officials from the premises of the Islamabad High Court on May 9 in the Al-Qadir Trust case, triggering countrywide protests.
Imran and Bushra Bibi remain incarcerated in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. They were sentenced on December 20, 2025, to 17 years in prison in the Toshakhana-II case, which pertains to allegations that the couple unlawfully retained a Bulgari jewellery set gifted by the Saudi crown prince during an official visit to Saudi Arabia.
Imran has been in custody since August 2023, serving a sentence in a £190 million corruption case. He also faces pending trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act in connection with protests on May 9, 2023.
Why the Imran Khan production order matters
The order keeps the Judicial Complex case moving through the ATC even as Imran remains behind bars in Adiala. Production through video link has become routine in his cases, with courts balancing security concerns against the requirement that the accused be present for proceedings.
The declaration of four senior PTI figures as proclaimed offenders, along with non-bailable warrants for two more, widens the net of the case. With the next hearing fixed for November 5, the court has signalled it intends to press ahead regardless of whether the absent accused appear.
