A major development has emerged in the Mir Raza Murder Case after the slain businessman’s business partner appeared before a Karachi court. The court also restricted him from leaving the city while investigators continue their inquiry.
Ahmed Bharde appeared before the City Court along with his lawyer and joined the legal proceedings. His appearance marked an important development as investigators continue examining people linked to the businessman and the circumstances surrounding his death.
During the hearing, Advocate Khalid Mumtaz represented Ahmed before the Additional District and Sessions Judge. He told the court that police actions had pushed his client to seek legal protection.
The lawyer claimed that investigators had harassed his client during the inquiry. Therefore, Ahmed approached the Sessions Court and requested interim bail to protect himself while cooperating with the investigation.
The court granted Muhammad Ahmed interim bail against a surety bond of Rs 100,000. Meanwhile, the defense assured the judge that Ahmed wanted to participate fully in the legal process.
The Mir Raza Murder Case has attracted attention as police continue questioning witnesses and people connected with the victim. Ahmed’s lawyer maintained that his client had voluntarily appeared because he wanted to cooperate with the authorities.
Advocate Khalid Mumtaz also raised concerns about investigators’ conduct. He claimed that officials called his client to the crime scene instead of asking him to visit the police station.
Furthermore, the lawyer accused the former investigation officer of harassing his client. He argued that these circumstances forced Ahmed to seek interim bail despite his willingness to cooperate.
However, the complainant’s lawyer Jibran Nasir rejected the defense allegations. He told the court that police had followed the investigation process and had not targeted Ahmed through harassment.
Nasir explained that investigators had already summoned more than 35 witnesses and other individuals for questioning. Therefore, he argued that Ahmed’s questioning formed part of the broader investigation rather than any special action against him.
The complainant’s lawyer also raised concerns about granting bail at this stage. He argued that such relief could encourage other people linked to the case to seek bail before investigators complete their work.
During the Mir Raza Murder Case hearing, the judge questioned the defense about its decision to seek interim bail. The court noted that investigators had not formally nominated Ahmed as an accused when he filed his application.
The judge then asked the defense lawyer to reconsider the bail request. The court also told him to decide whether he wanted to continue pursuing the application or withdraw it.
At the same time, the court made Ahmed’s responsibilities clear. The judge directed him to cooperate with police and participate in the investigation whenever authorities require his presence.
The court also ordered Ahmed not to leave Karachi while the investigation continues. This restriction will allow investigators to contact him whenever they need further information or questioning.
Ahmed responded that he remained ready to cooperate with the police. He also assured the court that he would visit the police station whenever investigators summoned him.
The court subsequently included Ahmed’s appearance and interim bail in the judicial record. Meanwhile, both sides presented their positions regarding the investigation and the defense’s allegations of harassment.
The Mir Raza Murder Case will now return to court on August 24. The judge adjourned the proceedings until that date and instructed the defense to clarify its position regarding the interim bail application.
At the next hearing, Ahmed’s lawyer will have to decide whether to withdraw the bail request or continue pursuing it. The investigation will also continue as police examine statements and other information connected with the case.
Authorities have already questioned dozens of witnesses and individuals. Consequently, the case continues to develop as investigators work to establish the sequence of events surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
The latest court proceedings have placed fresh attention on Ahmed’s role in the investigation. However, his court appearance and interim bail do not by themselves establish criminal responsibility, and investigators still need to complete their inquiry.
For now, Ahmed must remain available to investigators and cannot leave the city. The Mir Raza Murder Case will enter its next legal stage when the court resumes proceedings on August 24.
