Pakistani Cricket Academy: How to Join a Cricket Academy in Pakistan
Thousands of young cricketers search every year for how to join a Pakistani cricket academy. The honest answer depends on which academy you mean: the PCB’s elite National Cricket Academy works by selection, while private academies across the country take any committed player for a monthly fee. Here is the practical route.
Quick answer: To join a Pakistani cricket academy: (1) the PCB’s NCA Lahore is selection-only via age-group performances; (2) private academies in every major city accept fee-paying students of any level — train there, play district trials, and get noticed by PCB selectors.
The Two Routes
Route 1 — the PCB pathway: Play school, club and district cricket → get picked for regional U15/U17/U19 trials → impress junior selectors → earn a place at PCB camps and ultimately the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. There is no application form and no fee — only performance.
Route 2 — private academies: Enrol at a private academy in your city, train 4–6 days a week, play academy matches and enter open trials. This is where almost every professional starts. Full overview: Pakistan cricket academy guide.
Step-by-Step: From Street Cricket to the NCA
1. Join a local club or private academy and train consistently. 2. Play hard-ball matches — tape-ball alone rarely gets you selected. 3. Enter district U15/U16 trials run by regional cricket associations. 4. Perform in inter-district and regional tournaments. 5. Catch the eye of PCB junior selectors at pathway camps. 6. Graduate through U17 and U19 programmes toward the NCA and Pakistan U19.
Fees and Age Limits
Private academy fees vary by city and facilities — ask directly, and check what coaching, nets and match exposure the fee covers. The PCB pathway has no fees but is age-banded (U15, U17, U19). Starting young helps, but late developers break through every year.
