PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the window at a New York roadshow in December 2025; the new-team auction followed on 8 January 2026 in Islamabad. The season overlapped with the IPL for the second consecutive year.
The New Format
With eight teams, the PCB scrapped the old double round-robin for a two-phase structure: first a single-league round robin (each team plays the other seven once), then a Super Four stage (two groups of four, three matches each). The top two from the Super Four went to the playoffs — Qualifier, Eliminators and Final. Each team still played a minimum of 10 matches, keeping the workload familiar despite expansion.
The Final
On 3 May 2026, Gaddafi Stadium hosted a final nobody had predicted in January: Peshawar Zalmi vs the Hyderabad Kingsmen, the debutants. Zalmi’s experience told — they chased down the target with 5 wickets in hand to claim their second PSL crown, nine years after their first in 2017. For the Kingsmen, a runners-up finish in season one was a statement of intent. The defending champions going into PSL 12 are Peshawar Zalmi — see the PSL standings hub for the road ahead.
PSL 11 Records
The 2026 season set new marks: the longest PSL ever (39 days, 44 matches), the first eight-team edition, the first PSL matches in Faisalabad, and a debutant finalist in the Hyderabad Kingsmen — the first new franchise to reach a final in its maiden season. Peshawar Zalmi’s nine-year gap between titles (2017–2026) is the longest any team has waited.
