The PSL points table — how the Pakistan Super League standings work: the points system, net run rate, how the top four are decided, and where to find the live table during the season.
Quick answer: Teams earn 2 points per win and 1 for a no-result; ties on points are broken by net run rate (NRR). The top four reach the playoffs. The live table is on ESPNcricinfo, Cricbuzz and the PCB’s official platforms during the season.
The Points System
The PSL table follows the standard T20 league template:
- Win: 2 points
- No result / washout: 1 point each
- Loss: 0 points
Teams are ranked first by points. With eight teams each playing 10 league matches (as in PSL 11), the race for the top four is usually decided in the final week of the league stage.
Net Run Rate, Explained
When teams finish level on points, net run rate (NRR) decides the order: a team’s average runs per over scored across the season, minus the average runs per over conceded. Big wins and heavy defeats swing it sharply — which is why teams keep pushing for extra runs even in dead rubbers. If NRR is also level, the PCB’s playing conditions use head-to-head results and then wickets-based measures.
Who Qualifies
The top four go through to the playoffs: 1st vs 2nd in the Qualifier (winner straight to the final), 3rd vs 4th in Eliminator 1, then Eliminator 2 for the remaining final spot. Finishing in the top two carries a real advantage — a second chance via the Qualifier.
