mobile police stations Punjab: what services are available

The mobile units will deliver 14 key police services. These range from FIR registration and online e-tagging to tenant registration, employee verification and criminal record checks. Citizens filing FIR complaints will receive an immediate online e-tag to track their case.

People can also report lost documents, such as national identity cards and chequebooks, directly through the units. The vans will issue character certificates and provide driving licence services, including learner permits, renewals, duplicate licences and international driving permits.

Women’s units and community outreach

Six of the 33 units are set aside for women’s issues. Specialised staff have been assigned to these Pink Mobile Police Stations to handle sensitive cases involving harassment, domestic violence and offences against women and children with empathy and privacy.

The vans will visit universities and women’s colleges on a fixed schedule. Further deployment will be mapped using real-time crime data and calls to the emergency police helpline 15. To spread awareness, van itineraries will be published on social media and announced from neighbourhood mosques before a unit arrives in an area.

What the chief minister said

Maryam Nawaz inspected one of the new units at the launch, reviewed its operational capabilities and spoke with the on-duty staff. She said: “This initiative will help bridge the divide between the public and the police while saving citizens valuable time and travel expenses, especially those residing in far-flung and underserved areas.”
