Tehran: Regional tensions increased significantly after Iran announced attacks on U.S. bases in Bahrain and Jordan. Iranian officials said the operation came in direct response to recent American airstrikes on locations in southern Iran.
According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iranian forces launched drones toward the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. In addition, Iran fired missiles at an airbase in Jordan where American troops are stationed. Iranian state media described the attacks as a retaliatory measure against U.S. military actions.
The latest developments have placed the spotlight on U.S. bases across the Middle East. Security analysts believe the incident could further destabilize an already tense region.
Meanwhile, Jordan’s armed forces confirmed that they detected incoming missiles launched from Iran. The military successfully intercepted and destroyed five missiles before they reached their targets. Officials said the missiles were heading toward the Al Azraq area in Zarqa province.
Furthermore, Jordan reported that missile debris fell in several locations after the interceptions. However, authorities confirmed that no casualties occurred and no property suffered damage. Emergency teams immediately secured the affected areas.
In addition, military engineering units started operations to collect missile fragments and remove any potentially dangerous materials. Jordan’s armed forces also reaffirmed their commitment to protecting national sovereignty and defending the country’s airspace from any violation.
The attacks have renewed concerns about the security of U.S. bases in the Gulf region. Governments across neighboring countries continue to monitor the situation closely and maintain heightened security measures.
At the same time, Kuwait’s military announced that it was tracking potential hostile aerial activity. Defense forces remain on alert as regional tensions continue to rise.
Earlier, Iranian authorities reported that U.S. bases carried out strikes on several sites in southern Iran. Officials claimed the attacks damaged infrastructure in the Sirik area and destroyed two water storage tanks.
However, the U.S. military defended its actions. American officials described the operation as self-defense and a proportionate response to Iranian military activities. They also linked the strikes to the reported downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week.
As diplomatic efforts face growing challenges, attention remains focused on U.S. bases and their role in regional security. Analysts warn that further attacks involving U.S. bases could increase tensions and create additional security risks. For now, governments across the region continue to watch developments surrounding U.S. Bases while preparing for possible escalation.
