Washington: US Bombing Iran entered its second consecutive day after American forces launched fresh strikes on several locations along Iran’s southern coast.
US Central Command said the operation targeted 10 military locations in Iran.
The reported targets included Sirik, Bandar Lengeh, and Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM said President Donald Trump approved the military action after a drone incident involving commercial shipping.
According to the command, Iran attacked a Singapore-linked cargo vessel despite earlier commitments under an agreement with Washington.
CENTCOM also alleged that an Iranian drone targeted a Panama-flagged oil tanker carrying nearly two million barrels of oil near the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Iranian authorities had not publicly responded to those specific allegations at the time of reporting.
The latest US bombing of Iran operation focused on systems that Washington says support Iranian military activity in the region.
CENTCOM said its aircraft hit surveillance equipment, communication networks, air-defense positions, drone storage areas, and mine stockpiles.
The command claimed that these sites played a role in attacks and threats against commercial ships transiting regional waters.
Meanwhile, the US military said shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz continued without major disruption.
It added that American forces remained on high alert and could respond quickly to any further threat.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy routes.
Therefore, any rise in tensions around the waterway can affect global oil markets and regional maritime security.
President Trump also accused Tehran of breaking the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran.
He said Washington had given Iran time to follow the agreement after the reported attack on the commercial vessel.
However, Trump said Iran ignored that opportunity and continued actions that threatened shipping near the strategic waterway.
He said US forces struck missile storage sites, drone facilities, and coastal radar systems during the operation.
The president further warned that Washington could take tougher action if Iran continued to challenge US demands.
