The political situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has taken a new turn as the Pakistan Peoples Party prepares to challenge the formation of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government. The development has intensified the AJK Government Crisis and could lead to a major legal battle.
According to sources, the PPP has decided to approach the judiciary to stop the PML-N from moving ahead with the government formation process. Party leaders discussed the issue during an important parliamentary meeting in Islamabad.
Faryal Talpur chaired the PPP AJK parliamentary party meeting at Zardari House. Senior party members and newly elected lawmakers discussed the election situation, disputed constituencies and the next steps regarding government formation.
During the meeting, PPP members agreed to strongly oppose the PML-N government’s formation under the current circumstances. The party believes unresolved election matters require attention before any new administration takes control.

PPP members maintained that the incomplete election process raises constitutional concerns. Therefore, they want election-related disputes resolved before the Legislative Assembly moves toward establishing a new government.

Among those who attended were Sardar Yaqoob, Zafar Iqbal Malik and Majid Khan. Their participation came as the PPP considered its political and legal strategy following the latest election developments.
In addition, the parliamentary party unanimously approved a resolution concerning elections in Azad Kashmir. Through the resolution, PPP members stressed the importance of transparent, free and fair elections across the region.
The party argued that credible elections remain essential for political stability and lasting peace. It also called for an electoral process that allows voters to express their choice without questions surrounding fairness or transparency.
