DG ISPR Presents Man India Claimed to Have Killed, Calls It a False Flag
RAWALPINDI: The DG ISPR India claim debunked on Thursday centred on New Delhi’s assertion that a Pakistani officer had been killed in an operation in Kashmir. The military’s spokesperson presented the living man before the media and dismissed the story as a staged false flag.
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry brought the man, who identified himself as Asif, a resident of Punjab’s Attock district, to the press conference to rebut the Indian account directly.
What India had claimed
Indian media reports, citing the Press Information Bureau, had said a man described as “Musa alias Asif Fauji” was “neutralised” during an encounter in the Korag area of Indian-occupied Kashmir as part of what was termed Operation Sheruwali, launched in May. Some accounts described him as a Pakistani SSG officer.
The reports linked him to the April 22 Pahalgam attack and listed a string of other attacks he was alleged to have been involved in, including incidents at Halan, DKG, Kandi, Shah Sitar, Shiv Khori, Gagangeer, Boota Pahari and Basira.
The DG ISPR India claim debunked live
Lt Gen Chaudhry read out the Indian claims at the press conference and then called Asif to stand beside him. Asif told reporters he was alive and well in Pakistan.
“Yesterday, some friends called me and told me there were reports on social media that I had been martyred by the Indian army in Kashmir,” he said. “To their concerns, I responded that I was here, alive and healthy.”
The DG ISPR said the episode began with a tweet falsely claiming Indian forces had neutralised a terrorist, and questioned why such drama was staged when the facts could simply be checked.
