Forza Horizon 6 Is 2026’s Highest-Earning First-Party Game at $579 Million
KARACHI: Forza Horizon 6 is comfortably the highest-earning first-party game released by Sony or Microsoft in 2026, according to estimates from analytics firm Alinea Analytics. The open-world racing game has sold around 8.8 million copies and generated approximately $579.2 million in revenue so far.
The figures underline how thoroughly the racing title has dominated this year’s first-party chart, sitting far ahead of every other Sony and Microsoft release.
Forza Horizon 6: how the Xbox ecosystem drove revenue
Alinea estimates that 56.7 per cent of Forza Horizon 6 revenue came from the Xbox ecosystem rather than Steam. Around 1.3 million players also paid for the Game Pass upgrade, while more than 10 million Game Pass subscribers accessed the game overall — a reminder of how subscription distribution now shapes blockbuster economics.
The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027, alongside its first Premium Expansion and a free update. Alinea expects the PS5 release to push Forza Horizon 6 closer to, and potentially beyond, Gran Turismo 7’s estimated $834 million in lifetime revenue.
The rest of the 2026 first-party chart
Sony’s Marvel’s Wolverine ranks second, with around 2.5 million copies sold and approximately $193 million generated nearly a month after launch. It also holds a strong 4.7 out of 5 rating on the PlayStation Store.
MLB The Show 26 is close behind at around $192.7 million, performing roughly 25 per cent better than last year’s entry. Interestingly, 48 per cent of its revenue came from Xbox despite the smaller Xbox console install base compared with PlayStation.
Halo: Campaign Evolved has generated an estimated $86.5 million, with around 46.5 per cent of that from PlayStation 5 and just 12.2 per cent from Steam. Bungie’s Marathon reached $61 million across PC, PS5 and Xbox, though Alinea estimates it currently has only around 50,000 daily users.
Further down, MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls made $51.6 million, Gears of War: E-Day reached $42.1 million, and Housemarque’s Saros closed the chart at $40.4 million.
What the numbers mean for the industry
The chart tells two stories. First, racing games remain commercial powerhouses when executed at Forza’s scale. Second, the platform split shows how blurred the old console wars have become: Xbox-published titles earning heavily on PlayStation, and Sony’s MLB franchise making nearly half its money on Xbox.
For Pakistani gamers, the PS5 launch date matters most. With the game arriving on Sony’s console in January 2027 alongside new content, the local PlayStation community — which has grown steadily even as major releases like GTA 6 keep shifting — gets its turn at the year’s biggest first-party hit.
