KARACHI: Two brothers were shot dead and a third family member was left critically injured after a personal dispute escalated into an armed clash in Gulbai Chowrangi on Thursday.
Police identified the dead men as Mohammad Karim and Mohammad Azeem, both sons of Abdul Qayyum. Azeem’s son Javed suffered critical injuries in the firing and was shifted for treatment.
The shooting broke out in Gulbai Chowrangi following what police described as a personal dispute between the parties. Initial information suggests a relative of the deceased, who lives in the same locality, was involved in the firing.
Police investigation under way
Senior Superintendent of Police Singhar Malik said police were investigating the incident to determine what led to the armed clash. He said the complete circumstances and the motive behind the confrontation had not yet been established.
Police teams collected evidence from the crime scene and began legal proceedings. The crime scene unit photographed the site and gathered forensic evidence, while investigators started recording witness statements to establish the sequence of events. A first information report was being registered as part of the legal proceedings, officials said. Authorities said efforts were under way to identify and arrest the accused.
The injured man remained in critical condition, police said, adding that further details about the motive and circumstances would emerge as the investigation progressed. Officials said the picture would become clearer once the accused were in custody and statements from both sides had been recorded.
