Lenovo launches 990g ThinkBook 14x with 2.8K OLED and dual SSD slots
Lenovo has launched the ThinkBook 14x, a 14-inch Windows 11 Pro laptop that weighs just 990 grams and measures 12.9mm thick. The ThinkBook 14x pairs an aluminium chassis with Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 processors and offers something rare in the ultrabook class: two SSD slots.
The machine is built around Intel’s Lunar Lake platform, with buyers choosing between the Core Ultra 5 226V and the Core Ultra 7 256V. Memory is 16GB of RAM integrated into the processor package, which means it cannot be upgraded later. Lenovo says the laptop meets Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC requirements, so on-device AI features in Windows 11 come as standard.
ThinkBook 14x display and battery options
Lenovo is selling three configurations. The base model pairs an LED display with a 54.7Wh battery, while a second variant adds a touchscreen to the same LED panel and battery. The range-topping version moves to a 14-inch 2.8K OLED panel running at 120Hz with 500 nits of brightness, backed by a larger 65Wh battery.
Storage is another strong point. The laptop ships with either 512GB or 1TB, and the second SSD slot means owners can add another drive later rather than replacing the original. That is unusual for a machine under a kilogram, where soldered storage is the norm.
Connectivity covers two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports and a full-size HDMI output, alongside Wi-Fi 6E. The chassis carries a MIL-STD-810H durability rating, and Lenovo has fitted a glass touchpad, an adaptive backlit keyboard and a sensor that blurs the screen when someone else looks over your shoulder.
Price and availability
Pricing starts at about $1,125, which works out to roughly Rs 311,000 at current exchange rates. The laptop is being sold through Lenovo’s website. There is no word yet on official availability or pricing in Pakistan, where Lenovo’s ThinkBook range typically arrives through authorised distributors a few weeks after the global launch.
The sub-1kg category has long been dominated by a handful of machines, and a 990-gram 14-inch laptop with dual SSD slots and an OLED option gives buyers who refuse to compromise on storage flexibility a new name to consider.
